BATU HIU BEACH

Batu Hiu beach is one of the beaches in Pangandaran Regency. It is located in a village called Ciliang, part of Parigi Sub-district, Pangandaran Regency, West Java, Indonesia.

How to get there ? It is very easy and simple, because this place isn't far from Pangandaran Beach or from downtown Pangandaran. From Bandung, you can go by bus, car, or even a motorcycle with a distance of 230 kms for 7 hours. If you wanna know about accurate routes you can use google maps to get navigation. It is very easy to use, but your smartphone needs to connect to the internet for sure.

Batu Hiu beach is not extensive and very quiet beach. But sometimes, this place is very crowded and busy when the holidays come. Batu Hiu beach has beautiful scenery with great waves and calm breezes that make relax and the beach is also very quiet place. But unfortunately, you can't swim here because the waves are very big and dangerous. This place is divided into 2 parts ;

👉 First place (east coast) has beautiful beach with great rocks and dark sand ; there is also a coral like a shark long time ago (batu=coral,hiu=shark, that's why this place called batu hiu), but this coral isn't like a shark any more now just like a normal coral in the middle of the sea ; there is so many stores here.

👉 Second place (west coast) is just a beach with no big corals, but here, there is a tunnel like a shark with opened-mouth (this tunnel is very iconic) ; there is also many stores here.

Between the east coast and the west coast, there is a hill (super big coral) which is very beautiful up there. If you hike with stairs from east coast, you will be connected to the west coast rather than walking down the street. On the top, you can see the beach beneath, which is very cool, and a great sunrise in the sky. You can also see blue oceans and blue skies with the gentle breeze going on. There is also a vast expanse of green grass and many gazebos on the hilltop.

What activities can you do here ? You can relax yourself out there especially with your lover and enjoy the beach scene, or just having a picnic with your family or friends, eat together at the top of the hill, or just taking photos/selfies, if you like jogging, this place is very suitable for jogging in the morning, and so on. There is also turtle conservation which is about 200 meters from the west coast. You can observe, learn new things, try touching turtles, or anything there.

Batu Hiu beach is equipped with common facilities and support for the complete infrastructure including ;

👉 A large parking area, either on the east coast or on the west coast. When the holidays come, this parking area is usually tight.

👉 Hotels and Lodging, which is very homely and rustic. The price is also affordable.

👉 Food stalls and restaurants, there are plenty of food stalls there, and if you wanna drink something, I suggest you to drink Young Coconut Ice (Indonesian=Es Kelapa Muda, Javanese=Es Degan, Sundanese=Es Kalapa) which is really really fresh, sweet, and cheap.

👉 Lots of stores selling clothes, accessories, coral ornaments, souvenirs, and so on. Whether on the east coast or on the west coast, the stores are always available.

👉 Toilets, if you need a toilet, there are plenty of toilet for you.

👉 Mosque, if you wanna pray, there is a large mosque that you can use to pray easily.

I recommend you to go to Batu Hiu beach to relax yourself or spend your vacation here, because this beach has beautiful scenery, awesome sunrise, and great corals (very instagramable). If you wanna capture an amazing sunrise, come here at the crack of dawn, if you wanna jog here, you can visit this beach at 5.30 AM. This beach is suitable for those people who want to relax themselves, enjoy the beach view, hang out with a lover or friends, picnic, jogging, watching the sunrise, take pictures, and so on. This beach is not suitable for those people who wanna swim, surf, watch sunset, hunt for white-sand, fishing, snorkeling and jet skiing.
