Hunting Tourist - Carla's Story from Sidney, Australia

On July 23th of 2017, my friend and I went to Batu Karas beach for hunting tourist. We went in the evening because there must be so many tourists who enjoy the sunset. So after Asr Prayer we immediately rode my motorcycle and ready to hunt! The weather, that time, was very perfect to enjoy the sunset. Windy and sunny. What a nice day!
We tried to find some tourists but it's not that easy, indeed! Maybe, we're unlucky that time coz there were not many foreign tourists enough for us. So, we walked and tried again and again. Finally we met an old women who was laying down on the sand. But she said that she couldn't speak English well and we saw that her face was really terrible. I thought she has an unsavory situation. So, we tried again. There were a couple lay down the sand and the girl who wearing bikini and I felt so uncomfortable to see her bcoz it's very unusual for me. LOL. So, we chose to come closer and ready to hunted them, hahaha. Apparently, two young people which is like a couple (and yeah a real couple) was enjoying the view of the beach while reading a book (that made me feeling adore for them, book? really?)
Her name is Carla (22) from Sidney Australia and she said she study Arabic in one of the universities in her place. She was on her vacation but her brother was getting married in Jakarta next week (that time) and travelling also in Indonesia. She said that she will be in Indonesia for 2 weeks and came a week ago with her boyfriend and his brother in law. She thought that the place, Batu Karas beach is good and she like it. She also thought that Indonesia is warm and very hot but nice, tho. It's very different from her country and the people are very friendly and she also said that the foods here are good. And we asked her favorite Indonesian food of course. She love bakso and it's nice, she said. I asked her about the culture of Indonesia as well. She explained her experience in Yogyakarta and told us that they have been to the tourist area there, and everyone was like selling new stuffs and Malioboro was very busy.
She said to me about the biggest different between Indonesia and her country, Australia is like more people in Indonesia and in her place people stick to their selves, in their house, away, by them selves and they don't worry about everyone else but in here everyone are interacting and talking on the street. Then, I asked her about what should Indonesian people do to make Indonesia better, and she linked with her experience in Yogyakarta especially Malioboro about everyone was selling new stuffs everywhere and she said that it gets tiring. You don't want to advice stuffs, you don't want to always. Just like that. And my friend asked about her journey in Yogyakarta. She's been to Borobudur, Prambanan, and had a tofu was made. She doesn't like tofu but she likes how to made.
I also let her guess about will Indonesia become a developed country in 10 years and she said YES and it will be different. She explained to us that the technology and everything is happening so fast, no country will be the same, everywhere will be different.
She said that she's satisfied and like with the service from Indonesian people but she doesn't like that people are always selling new stuffs everywhere and it gets tiring. She gave us suggestion about for people that have tourist jobs and everyone who hasn't work in tourist section, be a really really lovely.
I asked her about her Indonesia favorite movie and turns out that she's never watched a movie from Indonesia and we suggest her to watch Habibie and Ainun movie. She was really interesting to that movie after we told the story of the movie.
My friend asked her if she has been to Yogyakarta only or been to Bali, Lombok, or even Raja Ampat. Turns out that it's the first time that she come to Indonesia and she's never been to Bali, Lombok and Raja Ampat. She has been going to Jakarta, Yogyakarta and immediately go to Pangandaran regency, and next week they have to go to Jakarta again for the Wedding. I suggest her to go see Bali and she would love to, but she doesn't have enough time and maybe next time.
My friend was wondering about her reason to study Arabic and what makes her interesting on it. My friend thought that she's not a moslem and we, as a moslem can read Arabic but doesn't quite interesting to learn Arabic and she's just wondering about it and asked her. She told us that a lot of people ask that question, she just likes the culture, the countries (Middle East), and considering Arabic as a nice language but hard and difficult to learn. She has learn Arabic since 2 years ago, not very long. She's never been going to the Middle East and my friend still wonder what makes her interesting on the culture. Carla said that she watched some movies and read some books about it and she just told she likes it.
My friend wanted to know more about Australia and the famous tourist destinations in there. Carla explained that Australia has a lot of tourist destinations but she suggest Byron Bay. It is a little village on the coast and has an excellent beaches for surfing and it's a really nice beach. She also recommend Sidney to visit. It has an Opera House, the bridge and the beach also good there. Bondi beach, and of course Uluru, the big rock in the middle of the desert and some Kangaroos. And my friend wondered about Kangaroos, Carla said Kangaroos are tall almost 2 meters and big and she said that Kangaroos was good to see. Australia also has small Kangaroos but it's not a kid of Kangoroos but just like a normal and it's another species. My friend asked about koalas also and Carla said that koalas are cute and she's only seen koala in the wild once.
My friend and I stopped the conversation coz of the time, haha. We were scared if we were bothering them. But Carla was a very very friendly tourist. She's amazing, I mean, many tourist are conceited but she's not. I really really enjoy talked with her, and she made me want to hunted more tourists haha. We immediately took some photos and said goodbye to them.
Thank You Carla. See you again, haha.
